Professor Matheus

Professor Matheus

Black Belt 3rd Degree (2015) · IBJJF Master Champion · Dallas 2026 double gold

Carioca born and raised, Matheus has been a black belt since 2015 - but the title only tells half the story. Hundreds of tournaments, IBJJF Master gold, podiums on the world's biggest stages. He walked away from an engineering degree because the mat is where he actually comes alive. He won his first tournament at thirteen, a white belt, and never stopped. Most recently: double gold at the 2026 Dallas Summer Open IBJJF — Black Master 1 Heavy in Gi and Black Master 1 Heavy in No-Gi. IBJJF No-Gi World Champion at medium-heavy in 2023, silver in the absolute. Double gold, weight and absolute, at the 2025 Denver Open. Master heavyweight gold at the Rio Summer International Open. He still competes.

Professor Gabriela

Professor Gabriela

Black Belt (2024)

Professor Gabriela is an athlete through and through - a black belt who still trains like she's chasing the next level. Roll with her and you'll feel it: relentless pace, sharp timing, and a game built on precision instead of strength. She's a mainstay of our women's group, where her presence on the mats has helped build a real community around training hard and having fun doing it. And if you catch her Instagram videos, get ready to take notes - there's always something new to pick up. Relentless, technical, and impossible to ignore. Gabriela raises the level of every room she trains in.

The Gracie Barra Method

The Gracie Barra Method is the set of teaching techniques, tools, and standards developed by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. - seven essential building blocks that empower GB instructors worldwide to teach Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone, while keeping the legacy alive.

All seven blocks rest on one foundation: safety. Risk management is a constant variable in every single class at Gracie Barra.

"The student of one of us is a student of all of us - and together, we are all students of Master Carlos Gracie Jr."

Safety is the #1 priority - always.
